Born in November 1996, Ong Yong Da may have limited speech, but his cheerful smile and artistic expression speak volumes. His creativity allows him to connect with people on a deep level, delivering a powerful message of love and acceptance through his art.
Yong Da’s passion for drawing began in childhood, spending countless hours doodling with crayons and colored pencils. He transitioned to acrylic painting in 2006 and has since actively participated in exhibitions and auctions organized by autism support groups, Rotary Clubs, and NGOs, raising awareness and funds for individuals with special needs.
From 2011 to 2014, his artworks were featured in Art Expo Malaysia, gaining recognition from galleries, corporations, and private collectors. His largest commissioned work—measuring 213 cm x 152 cm—was included in Anika’s 2022 calendar, celebrating art collectors’ favorites.
In 2021, Yong Da earned international acclaim by winning the IM Group Foundation's International Arts Competition, which led to his exhibition in Italy in 2023. That same year, the Malaysia Art Education Association named him Artist of the Month in April.
A career milestone was achieved in 2023, when his painting Bukit Kiara Forest Reserve sold for RM33,000 at the RHB Group’s Art with Heart 2023 event, marking his highest sale to date. Beyond painting, Yong Da explores pottery, travel, hiking, and music, finding joy in nature walks and playing the piano.
